SYMPTOMS

When you use Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to run status queries against Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 or Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 WMI namespaces, the WMI service may run out of virtual memory and stop functioning. This problem occurs if one of the following conditions is true:

  • You run several thousand status queries against a few logical units (LUs).
  • You run a few status queries against several thousand LUs.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Wmisnastatus.dll library does not correctly release memory under certain conditions. These conditions exist when queries are run against the MsSnaStatus_Lu3270 or MsSnaStatus_Connection namespaces.
