APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. A user whose mailbox is stored on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 has a recurring meeting in his or her Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 calendar. The recurring meeting was created by using Microsoft Collaboration Data Objects (CDO). The meeting organizer deletes an occurrence of the meeting on the Exchange Server 2003 server. Additionally, the user opens the meeting cancellation e-mail message that he or she receives from the meeting organizer, and then removes the meeting from his or her calendar in Outlook 2003. In this scenario, the user expects to receive the following messages from the meeting organizer:

  • A message that is an update to the meeting series
  • A message that informs the user of the canceled meeting

Instead, the user experiences the following symptoms:

  • The user receives a message that is an update to the meeting series.
  • The user receives a message that is an update to the canceled meeting. If the user accepts this update to the canceled meeting and does not click Remove From Calendar, a new meeting is added to the calendar.
