One or more occurrences of an appointment that has an attachment in Outlook 2007 is displayed without the attachment when you view the Calendar List in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You link the Calendar list in a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Web site with your Calendar in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Your Calendar in Outlook 2007 contains a recurring appointment that has an attachment.

When you view the Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, you notice that one or more occurrences of the recurring appointment does not have the attachment. When you view the recurring appointment in Outlook 2007, all occurrences of the appointment have the attachment as expected.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true, in the order that they are presented:

  • You link the Calendar list in a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Web site with your Calendar in Outlook 2007.
  • You schedule a recurring appointment in Outlook 2007. The recurring appointment contains an attachment.
  • You modify one or more occurrences of the recurring appointment in Outlook 2007, and then synchronize your Calendar in Outlook 2007 with the Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.

In this scenario, occurrences of the recurring appointment that were modified in Outlook 2007 are displayed in the Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 without a link to the attachment.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, reattach the attachment to the item that represents the recurring appointment that does not have the attachment in the Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In the Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, open an item that represents an occurrence of the recurring appointment that contains the attachment.
  2. Save the attachment to the local hard disk drive.
  3. Open the item that represents the recurring appointment that does not have the attachment.
  4. Click Edit Item, and then click Attach File.
  5. Click Browse. Locate the attachment, click it, and then click Open.
  6. Click OK, and then click Save and Close.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
