SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, you find that when you use a tool such as Registry Editor to load the registry hive, the modified date is updated. This update occurs when you unload the registry hive, even if you make no changes to the registry hive.

CAUSE

When you load the registry hive, the root cell of the registry hive is amended. Therefore, the modified date change is triggered.

RESOLUTION
