INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Windows SharePoint Services issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated December 15, 2005.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • Data is missing from one or more columns when you view the history of an item in an issues list

Consider the following scenario. You create an issues list in a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site. When you view the history of an item in the list, data is missing from one or more columns.

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
    • The list contains more than 14 columns.
    • The columns are either the Multiple lines of text type or the Yes/No (check box) type.

In this scenario, previous values of items are incorrectly processed. Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 only copies values from the first 14 columns to the Issue History list. Values from columns that come after the first 14 columns are not copied to the Issue History list.

  • XML reserved characters are not retained when you modify the properties of an .xml file in a document library

Consider the following scenario. You upload a Microsoft Word document to a document library in a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site. Then, you save the Word document as an .xml file that has an .xml extension. You modify certain properties of the .xml file in the document library. For example, you add a title or rename the title of the .xml file.

However, the property or properties that you modified are not saved as expected. This issue occurs if you used one of the following XML reserved characters when you modified the properties of the .xml file:
    • right angle bracket (>)
    • left angle bracket (<)
    • ampersand (&)
    • apostrophe (')

For example, if you changed the title of an .xml file in the document library from My File to <My XML File>, the XML reserved characters are not retained when you save the file. Therefore, the title of the .xml file is My XML File.
