The Windows desktop appears to be corrupted when you start a virtual machine in Virtual PC for Mac Version 7

SYMPTOMS

When you start a virtual machine in Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7, the Microsoft Windows desktop appears to be corrupted. For example, black boxes may appear around desktop icons. Alternatively, Start menu items may appear on the desktop.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you have one of the following versions of Mac OS X installed on the computer:

  • Mac OS X 10.4.0
  • Mac OS X 10.4.1
  • Mac OS X 10.4.2


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Mac OS X Update 10.4.3. Mac OS X Update 10.4.3 is available as a free download from Apple. To install the most recent update for Mac OS X, click Software Update on the Apple menu in Mac OS X.
