SYMPTOMS

When you call the GetProfileByKey method in Microsoft Commerce Server 2002, the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) process that represents Commerce Server 2002 may stop responding. Additionally, the user requests to the profile services fail. These profile services include may authentication and registration.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.

No prerequisites are required.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must restart IIS after you apply this hotfix. To do this, click Start, click Run, type iisreset, and then click OK.

This hotfix replaces the hotfix that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 901204.
