SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You are running Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004. You have a Transaction Integrator (TI) Windows Initiated Processing (WIP) Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) object. The Version property for the TI WIP COM object is set to 10 or more. In this scenario, the TI WIP COM object does not install correctly in TI Manager, and you may experience the following behavior:
- After you install the object by using the Object Wizard in TI Manager, the object appears to install successfully. When you click Finish, you may receive the following error message: Note The error message is titled HIP Manager. However, the error is in WIP, host-initiated processing (HIP).
- After you try to install the TI WIP COM object, the object appears in TI Manager as an installed object. If you select the object, no methods appear in the right pane even though methods are defined in the TI WIP COM object.
- If you receive the "5570" error message when you install the TI WIP COM object, you receive the following error message if you try to delete the object in TI Manager:
- If you right-click the object in TI Manager and then click Properties, you receive the following error message: Note The word "occurred" in spelled incorrectly in this error message.
- If you close and then reopen TI Manager, the TI WIP COM object is not listed, and you receive the following error message:
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, set the value of the Version property of the TI WIP COM object to 9 or less.

Until you successfully remove the offending TI WIP COM object, you receive the following error message every time that you open TI Manager:
To remove the TI WIP COM object, follow these steps:
- Open TI Manager.
Note You receive the "5570" error message.
- Install the TI WIP COM object again by using the Object Wizard. To do this, right-click Objects, click New, and then select the TI WIP COM object.
- After the object appears to be installed, right-click the object, and then click Delete.
If the TI WIP COM object is no longer available to reinstall, you can remove the object by removing a registry key. To do this, follow these steps:
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cedar\TIC
registry key. - Examine the Name value for each key that is listed under the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cedar\TIC
key. If the Name value shows a version that is 10 or more, delete that registry key.
Note Do not delete registry keys for installed TI objects that are working correctly.
