SYMPTOMS

You receive no response from the console when you connect a portable device to a USB port on the Xbox 360 console.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the portable device is not compatible with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Make sure that the portable device is compatible with the Xbox 360 console. The following devices are compatible the Xbox 360 console:
    • Official Xbox 360 accessories
    • Most USB mouse devices and USB keyboards
    • Most digital cameras
    • Many portable music players
    • Many mass storage devices

To determine whether a device works with the Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the console off, and then turn it back on.
  2. Turn the device off, and then turn it back on.
  3. Connect the device to a different USB port on the console.
  4. Try the device in a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP or a later version of Microsoft Windows. The device should operate without any additional software or updates. If the device does not work, the device is not compatible with Xbox 360.
