SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, when you use Fast User Switching to switch to another user while you are watching a DVD movie, and then you switch back to continue watching the DVD movie, you may receive the following error message:

Playback Initialization Error

This problem only occurs if you are watching the DVD movie in windowed mode when you switch to the other user.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, restart Media Center Edition. When you play the DVD, the DVD movie will resume from where you stopped.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
