INTRODUCTION
This article describes the Microsoft Office XP issue that is fixed in the Portuguese (Brazilian) proofing tools for Office XP post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated August 29, 2005.

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- You have a document that is in an Office XP program. The document contains text that is in the Portuguese (Brazilian) language. When you check the spelling of the text that is in the document, you may receive the following error message:

path:\filenameis a placeholder for the path and the file name of the custom dictionary.
This problem may occur if the text in the custom dictionary contains any one of the following characters:- A quotation mark (")
- An exclamation mark (!)
- An asterisk (*)
- A question mark (?)
