SYMPTOMS

You run the Exchange Information Store Integrity Checker command-line tool (Isinteg.exe) on the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server server. When you type the following at the command line, the Exchange Information Store Integrity Checker command-line tool may fail:

Isinteg -s <ServerName> -fix -l <logFileName> -test Rowcounts


Additionally, you may receive the following error message:

Starting test 18 of 18, 'Row Count/Dumpster Count' Warning: table MsgFolder row count: Calc(136318) <> Prop(454493) Warning: table Folders row count: Calc(4511) <> Prop(8367) Warning: table Categ row count: Calc(0) <> Prop(25) Warning: table ReplState row count: Calc(8666) <> Prop(0) Warning: DumpsterSize Calc(120954048) <> Prop(147268880) Error: Not all perfmon counters could be set. Abort changes. Error JET_errColumnNotFound Error: FULLCHKMGR::EcTestRowCount returning with error JET_errColumnNotFound

After this issue occurs, the Information Store Integrity Checker command-line tool always fails with this error message on the Exchange 2000 Server server.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

Because of file dependencies, this hotfix requires the August 2004 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 update rollup.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this software update. However, the Exchange Information Store service and all dependent services want to be restarted.

This hotfix does not replace any other software updates.
