SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, you use the AddFontResource API function to load a font from a file. Then you use the loaded font. In this scenario, unexpected characters may appear.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because an internal list that is used to keep track of loaded fonts may be out of order.

Prerequisites

This software update is only supported if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been applied.

Restart requirement

After you apply this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, perform a soft reset of the Windows CE-based device.
