APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows CE 5.0

SYMPTOMS

A DCOM client application may not be able to connect to a DCOM server. This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • The DCOM server is running on a Microsoft Windows CE 5.0-based device.
  • The device uses a hive-based registry.

CAUSE

During the image creation process on Windows CE 5.0, the Registry Compression tool (Regcomp.exe) incorrectly generates random class information for each registry key in a hive. This additional class information may cause DCOM failures.
