SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Commerce Server 2002, when you configure encryption keys in the Web.config file, the profile search returns encrypted property values in an encrypted state. However, you expect the profile search to return the property values in a decrypted state.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Commerce Server (Csoledbprovider.dll) with Microsoft ADO.NET. ADO.NET sends data in a WSTR data type that OLE DB Provider for Commerce Server cannot convert.
