SUMMARY

Microsoft has released the Office XP post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package for Microsoft Office XP. This article describes the following information about the hotfix package:

INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office XP Document Imaging issue that is fixed in the Office XP post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated June 16, 2005.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • When you print an image document from Microsoft Office XP Document Imaging to a printer, you may experience resource limitations in the Graphics Device Interface (GDI). Examples of an image document are an .mdi file, a .tif file, or a .tiff file.

    Additionally, one or more of the following symptoms may occur:
    • The Microsoft Office XP Document Imaging program may be unresponsive and may appear to stop responding.
    • The image document does not print.
    • The following event message may be logged in the system event log:


      Event Type: Error
      Event Source: Print
      Event Category: None
      Event ID: 61
      Description: The document document name owned by username failed to print on printer printer name. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 3003. A StartDocPrinter call was not issued.

    Note This issue may occur when you print to any printer. This includes a printer that is attached to a print server.

Prerequisites

  • The optimized version of this hotfix is a post-Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office XP SP3 installed.

  • The optimized version of this hotfix requires Microsoft Windows Installer version 2.0 or a later version.

  • The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). However, we have tested this fix on Office XP SP3 more extensively than we have on Office XP SP2. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office XP SP2, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.

Restart information

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix is not replaced by any later hotfix.

Registry information

You do not have to create or to modify any registry keys to enable the hotfix that this package contains.
