INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated November 15, 2005.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • When the DeleteUrl process or the DeleteDocumentVersion process is programmatically called for the Sites table or for the DocVersions table, a deadlock condition may occur.
  • When you run an ad hoc query on a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site, the CPU usage on the server that is running Microsoft SQL Server consumes 100 percent of the CPU time. Therefore, users cannot access the server.
  • When you retrieve properties from SPFile.Properties in the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 object model, the ETag property is not available.
  • When you programmatically scan a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 document library for the documents that are contained in the library, you may not be able to access the documents. Additionally, the client computer may stop responding (hang).
  • When you try to publish a document that contains a lookup field from a document workspace to the source location, the document is not published. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Invalid data has been used to update the list item. The field you are trying to update may be read only.

  • When you try to select a workspace that is linked to a previous workspace, and when the virtual server user rights have been reduced, the meeting workspace is not found.
  • When you try to upload multiple .xml files to a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 document library, some of the documents are not uploaded. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

W3wp.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience

When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that is similar to the following error signature:

Application name Application version Module name Module version Offset
    W3wp.exe 6.0.3790.0 Fpencode.dll 2003.1100.5510.0 0000194e
  • When you try to open a page that contains an event list on a server that is running Windows SharePoint Services 2.0, the page is not displayed. Additionally, the following error message is logged in the Application log on the server:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Application Error
    Event Category: (100)
    Event ID:?
    Date: date
    Time: time
    User: N/A
    Computer: computer_name
Description: Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x0002faf7.

  • When you try to delete a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site that is larger than 2 gigabytes (GB) by using the stsadm -o deletesite command, the site is not deleted. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

There is no Web named "/".

  • When you view an item that contains an HTML attachment in a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site after a theme has been applied to the site, you see that the Modified field has changed to the date and time that the theme was applied. Additionally, the Modified by field has changed to the person who applied the theme.
  • When the DeleteSiteInternal process or the DeleteWeb process is programmatically called for the Sites table or for the DocVersions table, a deadlock condition may occur.
  • When you use the GetDataTable method of the SPListItemCollection class to populate a data grid with list items, and when the Title field is Null, the values in the boolean columns of the data grid are Null.
