SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2, when you use a function such as the FindNextFile function to retrieve a file, the non-ASCII characters in the file name are incorrectly displayed. This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- The file is part of a Universal Disc File System (UDFS) volume.
- The file is stored in the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA) Compress Unicode format.
- The file name contains non-ASCII characters.
CAUSE
When data compression is set to 8 bits per character, the UDFS driver translates the characters from ANSI single-byte encoding to Unicode characters instead of from OSTA single-byte encoding to Unicode characters.

This software update is supported only if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been installed.
Restart requirement
After you install this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
