SYMPTOMS

When Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 sends an e-mail message, an access violation occurs in the Inetinfo.exe process. This problem may occur when one of the following conditions is true:

  • The sent message causes a public folder referral.
  • The message recipient was moved to another server.


CAUSE

This problem may occur if Exchange Server 2003 does not increment the message usage count correctly.

RESOLUTION

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Because of file dependencies, this hotfix requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
