INTRODUCTION
This article describes the Microsoft Outlook 2002 issue that is fixed in the Outlook 2002 post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated May 25, 2005.
The issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- Consider the following scenario. You run a program that uses the Outlook Object Model to add a telephone number to a contact in Outlook 2002. When you run the program, the mouse pointer switches from an hourglass icon to a pointer icon multiple times.
This issue occurs when the program that adds the telephone number to a contact runs as a background process to Outlook 2002.

Prerequisites
- The optimized version of this hotfix is a post-Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office XP SP3 installed.

- The optimized version of this hotfix requires Microsoft Windows Installer version 2.0 or a later version.

- The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on a computer that is running Office XP SP3 than we have on a computer that is running Office XP SP2. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office XP SP2, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.
Restart information
You do not have to restart the computer after you install this hotfix.

This hotfix is not replaced by any later hotfix.

You do not have to create or modify any registry keys to use any hotfixes that this package contains.
