SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  1. On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, you create a custom registry key.
  2. You run the Sysprep utility (Sysprep.exe).
  3. You create a new subkey under the custom registry key.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message when you view the permissions on the new subkey:

The permissions on RegistryKeyName are incorrectly ordered, which may cause entries to be ineffective. Press OK to continue and sort permissions correctly, or Cancel to reset the permissions.



You may also receive the following error message when you try to open the Security tab on the property of the files and folders:

The permissions on created file or folder name are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. Press OK to continue and sort the permissions correctly, or Cancel to reset the permissions
