SUMMARY
Microsoft has released the Microsoft Office Word 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package for Microsoft Office Word 2003. This article describes the following information about the hotfix package:

This article describes the Word 2003 issues that are fixed in the Word 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated April 21, 2005.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue:
896987 When you run a VBA macro that uses the Range.Copy or the Range.Paste method on a Range object in Word 2003, the macro does not complete, and you receive an error message
This hotfix package also fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- When you check the spelling of text in an e-mail message, words that are flagged as being misspelled are not highlighted.
This issue may occur when you use Word 2003 as your e-mail editor in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
- When you try to open a document (document A) in Word 2003 that has been inserted as a linked file in another document (document B), the document (document A) does not open. Additionally, Word 2003 may stop responding.
This issue may occur when all the following conditions are true:
- In document B, you insert document A as a linked file in a table.
- With the field codes turned off in document B, you type some text in the link field that is contained in the table.
- You update the links in document B.

- The optimized version of this hotfix is a post-Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office 2003 SP1 installed.

- The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed or on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed. However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed than we have on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.
