SYMPTOMS

You try to grant users who are members of other domains in the forest the permission to decrypt and encrypt Encrypting File System (EFS)-encrypted files. In Active Directory, you can only search for the users in the domain to which the current account belongs.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
