APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, when you repeatedly use the .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle (System.Data.OracleClient) to connect to Oracle, you may notice that the number of active sessions in the Oracle database increases.

This problem occurs when pooling is turned on and distributed transactions from the System.EnterpriseServices namespace are used.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a call to the OraMTSJoinTxn method fails and the pooled connection is not correctly disposed of. Therefore, the number of active sessions in the Oracle database increases.

RESOLUTION

Windows Server 2003
