SYMPTOMS
After you update your Microsoft Windows XP SP1-based computer, you cannot access shared folders that are on Microsoft Windows 98-based computers and that are protected with a password. When you try to access the shared folders, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- You are using Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or earlier versions.
- You updated your computer by using the updates that are described in either of the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles or by using any update or security update that is more recent than 815432 and that updates the Mrxsmb.sys file:
