INTRODUCTION

This article contains corrections for known errors in the Help topics in Microsoft Excel 2004 for Mac.

MORE INFORMATION

The Excel 2004 for Mac "Keys for windows" section of the "Microsoft Excel keyboard shortcuts" Help topic contains the following incorrect information:

  • COMMAND+SHIFT+3: Copy the image of the screen to the Clipboard.
  • COMMAND+SHIFT+4: Copy the image of the active window to the Clipboard (after pressing and releasing the key combination, click the window you want to take a picture of).

If you use these keyboard shortcuts, a Portable Document Format (PDF) file that contains the image is saved to the desktop. The image is not saved to the Clipboard.

To copy the image of the screen or of the active window to the Clipboard, use the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • CONTROL+COMMAND+SHIFT+3: Copy the image of the screen to the Clipboard.
  • CONTROL+COMMAND+SHIFT+4: Copy the image of an area of the screen to the Clipboard. Drag to select the area that you want in the image. Alternatively, press the SPACEBAR and then click a window, a menu bar, the Dock, or another area to copy the item or the area that you clicked as an image to the Clipboard.

The two keyboard shortcuts that are documented in the Excel Help topic function in the following ways:

  • COMMAND+SHIFT+3: Copy the image of the screen, and then save the image to the desktop as a PDF file.
  • COMMAND+SHIFT+4: Copy the image of a selected area of the screen, and then save the image to the desktop as a PDF file. Drag to select the area that you want in the image. Alternatively, press the SPACEBAR and then click a window, a menu bar, the Dock, or another area to copy the item or the area that you clicked as an image and then to save the image to the desktop as a PDF file.
