SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1 (FP1), when you try to import an XML file, the import operation fails and you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Note The import file was previously generated by exporting a catalog to an XML-based file. The products export as duplicate when they are associated with more than one category in the catalog. For example, a product that is assigned to three categories will contain three instances of the product in the generated XML file.
RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.

No prerequisites are required.
Restart requirement
You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must stop Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) before you install this hotfix. To stop the IIS services, use the following command:
IISReset /stop
After you are finished installing the hotfix, you can restart IIS by using the following command:
IISReset /start
Hotfix replacement information
This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
File information
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

You must also update the stored procedures that are in the catalog databases for exising Commerce Server sites. For guidelines about upgrading catalog databases, follow these steps:
- Make sure that you back up the existing stored procedures that are in the catalog database before you install this hotfix.
- Run the hotfix installer. This will replace the Catalogcreate.sql script and will make sure that future unpackaged sites will receive the stored procedure update.
- To change the stored procedure that is in the existing site, run SQL Query Analyzer.
In SQL Query Analyzer, choose the Commerce Server database that contains the catalog by running the following command:
use DatabaseName
- In SQL Query Analyzer, click Open on the File menu.
- Locate the 883504.sql file that is included in the hotfix package, and then click OK.
- On the Query menu, click Execute.
Note This will update the stored procedure in the site. - Repeat steps 3 - 7 for every Commerce Server site where you experience the symptoms that are described in the "Symptoms" section.
After you apply this hotfix, you must reregister Mscscore.dll. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
- Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32
DriveLetter
:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Enterprise Servers\Commerce Server\mscscore.dll
