SYMPTOMS

High CPU utilization occurs. The user interface responds slowly. Threads that are lower than the regular priority level do not have a chance to run. The problems occur in Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2.

CAUSE

The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) client is trying to contact the DHCP server. However, the network card is in a disconnected state.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this update.

MORE INFORMATION

When the registry setting for the DhcpMaxRetry setting is set to a high number, you experience high CPU utilization. When you use the default registry setting for the DhcpMaxRetry setting, you receive a message that the DHCP server is unavailable.
