APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

For a Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 version of this article, see 890832.

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Native Image Generator (NGen) tool (Ngen.exe) to pre-just-in-time (JIT) compile Microsoft intermediate language (MSIL) code into native binary code, an exception error may not be caught as expected on a computer where the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed. When this issue occurs, an unhandled exception occurs and the application quits.

When you do not use the NGen tool to pre-JIT compile the source code, the exception error is caught as expected.
