Article ID: 888617

Article Last Modified on 4/7/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

You may experience a deadlock condition in your compiled application when you use threads to create a control and to destroy a control. The problem may occur when you create a multithreaded application that creates and destroys Visual Basic 6.0 controls (OCXs) that have different threads. You may experience a deadlock condition in the MSVBVM60 DLL. This may cause your application to stop responding in Microsoft Visual Basic Enterprise Edition for Windows 6.0.

Note Hosting Visual Basic 6.0 controls in a multithreaded environment with a dynamic threadpool is not supported. Each one of the following applications may use a dynamic threadpool to create threads and to destroy threads:

  • Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS)
  • COM+
