SYMPTOMS

An application sends data to Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 through a published BizTalk one-way Web service. If the OneWay attribute is set to "FALSE" in the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) code, a problem may occur. When this setting is used, and a problem occurs when the BizTalk one-way Web service submits data to the backend database, the "HTTP 500 error" error message is supposed to be returned to the client application. The "HTTP 500" error message notifies the client of the error. Then, the client is supposed to resend the data.

Sometimes BizTalk Server 2004 may lose the SQL connection in the middle of sending data. The BizTalk one-way Web service incorrectly may return the "HTTP 200 successful" message to the client application instead of the "HTTP 500 error" error message. When this problem occurs, the BizTalk one-way Web service does not submit the data from the client to the backend database. The client is not aware of the error that occurs on the server side. The client does not resend the data. Therefore, there may be a data loss.
