SYMPTOMS
When you try to integrate Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) files into an existing Windows XP distribution share, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if hotfix or security update files have already been integrated into the Windows XP distribution share.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, integrate the Windows XP SP2 files into a distribution share that contains Microsoft Windows XP installation files. You can also integrate Windows XP SP2 files into a distribution share that has Microsoft Windows XP installation files that are integrated with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 files.
MORE INFORMATION
The process of integrating hotfix, security update, or service pack files into a distribution share with the original installation files is also known as slipstreaming.
When you slipstream hotfix, security update, or service pack files into a distribution share, a file that is named Spslpsrm.log is created in the %Systemroot% folder. This log file contains any error messages that were generated when you slipstreamed the hotfix, the security update, or the service pack into the distribution share.
