The Volumes tab for your Secure Digital storage device is not populated in Windows XP

SYMPTOMS

The Volumes tab for your Secure Digital (SD) storage device is not populated.

For example, when you open Device Manager, right-click the SD device under Disk Drives, and then click Properties, the Properties dialog box for the SD storage card opens. If you then click Populate on the Volumes tab, no information about the device is listed.

When this problem occurs, the SD device is not reported as a drive in the Disk Management console. You cannot modify the drive letter of the SD device.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the SD storage device is connected by using an integrated SDIO (Secure Digital Input/Output) expansion slot.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not affect the operation of the device. The problem affects only the way that information about the device is displayed in Device Manager.
