The Internet Server API (ISAPI) filter name is limited to a maximum of 24 characters when you add the filter to Microsoft Internet Information Server

Article ID: 886693

Article Last Modified on 12/3/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0

SYMPTOMS

When you add an Internet Server API (ISAPI) filter to the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) snap-in, you may notice that you are limited to using a maximum of 24 characters for the ISAPI filter name.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of the number of characters that the ISAPI Filter Name text box permits.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

The number of characters for the ISAPI Filter Name text box will be increased in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use Active Directory Service Interfaces scripting to add the ISAPI filter to IIS.
