- Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2
SYMPTOMS
When a pointer argument that is passed to the ReadFile or WriteFile functions is not DWORD-aligned, the data transaction to an IEEE 1394 hard disk drive fails in Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2.
CAUSE
The IEEE 1394 driver may pass an application buffer pointer to the device. If this pointer is not DWORD-aligned, the hard disk drive may fail the request to read or to write data. The file system layer should examine the buffer alignment and then allocate a temporary buffer to meet the data alignment requirements of the drive. We highly recommend that applications pass DWORD-aligned pointers to any system API.
