SYMPTOMS
When you synchronize devices in Microsoft Windows Media Player 10, your portable computer's hard-disk drive and processor may remain active. In this scenario, you may experience decreased battery life.
CAUSE
This issue may occur when the following conditions are true:
- Your system is configured to convert video and audio media files in the background.
- You unplug the AC power from your portable computer.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, turn off the option to convert your audio and video files in the background. To do this, follow these steps.
Note If you turn off the option to convert your audio and video files in the background, the time that is required to synchronize your devices may increase.
- Start Windows Media Player 10.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Devices tab, click Advanced.
- Click to clear the Allow video files to convert in the background check box, and then click to clear the Allow audio files to convert in the background check box.
- Click OK.
