SYMPTOMS
In certain situations, your Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer may unexpectedly stop responding when it uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. When this problem occurs, you receive a "Lsass.exe access violation in Schannel.dll" error message, and your computer may restart.
Additionally, the following event is recorded in the event log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000
Description:
Faulting application lsass.exe, version 5.2.3790.0, faulting module schannel.dll, version 5.2.3790.132, fault address 0x0001f00c.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Secure Sockets Layer component (Schannel.dll) accesses a memory address that is not valid.
RESOLUTION
