- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
SYMPTOMS
When you try to enumerate all instances of a specific performance counter in a performance log file in Microsoft Windows 2000, the PdhEnumObjectItems() function does not complete correctly and returns the "0xC0000BB8 (PDH_CSTATUS_NO_OBJECT)" error.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a problem with the APIs that are used to enumerate the instance names in Windows 2000. Instances in the performance log are dynamic when performance data is logged in a file in binary format. The instances may not always be present in the performance log file. Files with the .blg and .log file name extensions log performance data in binary format. Windows 2000 APIs cannot keep track of instances that are not always present in the performance log.
