Last reviewed: April 9, 1996
Article ID: Q85235
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 3.0
SUMMARY
The Data Access Macro (DAM) released with Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 3.0, is not fully compatible with the Macintosh Quadra 700, Quadra 900 or Centris when caches are enabled. The Data Access Macro released with Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0 is fully compatible with these machines.
To run the version 3.0 Data Access macro on a Macintosh Quadra, choose the More Compatible option in the Cache Switch control panel and restart the Macintosh. This control panel is on the system software 7.0 Tidbits disk and should be placed in the CONTROL PANEL folder in the SYSTEM FOLDER of the Quadra hard drive.
MORE INFORMATION
The code for the DAM in Microsoft Excel 3.0 utilized the most current programming libraries that existed at the time it was written. These libraries are not fully compatible with the system routines utilized by a Quadra running with its caches enabled.
This problem is corrected in Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0. To update to Microsoft Excel version 4.0, contact the Microsoft Sales and Information Center at (800) 426-9400.
For additional information on using the Macintosh Quadra with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products, query in this Knowledge Base on the word Quadra.
