SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, when you test a map by using sample XML data as input in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, you may notice that the output instance has some generated data that does not exist in the input sample.

This problem occurs if the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) components in BizTalk Server 2004 do not use the input instance correctly to test a map in Visual Studio .NET.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

Hotfix information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Note Because of file dependencies, the most recent hotfix that contains these files may also contain additional files.

After you extract the package, follow these steps to install this hotfix:

  1. Run the Setup program to install the main files.
  2. Manually copy the Genins.exe file from the extracted package location to the following folder:

    \Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004\EDI\Subsystem

  3. Manually copy the UpdateEDI.bat file and the UpdateEDI.sql file from the extracted package location to the following folder:

    \Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004\EDI\Adapter\Bin\Config

  4. Run the following batch file:

    \Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004\EDI\Adapter\Bin\Config\UpdateEDI.bat

  5. After you complete these steps, you may have to restart the following services:
    • BizTalk Base EDI service
    • BizTalk Service BizTalk Group: BizTalkServerApplication

      Note BizTalkServerApplication service name is the name of the default BizTalk Server host. This may be different on your computer.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was corrected in BizTalk Server 2004 Service Pack 1.
