SYMPTOMS

When you add or edit a group in a matrix control, a table control, or a list control in the Layout view of a report in Report Designer, you may not be able to add a page break at the start or at the end of the group. The Page break at start check box and the Page break at end check box may not appear in the Grouping and Sorting Properties dialog box or in the Details Grouping dialog box. The Page break at start check box and the Page break at end check box should appear on the General tab in the Grouping and Sorting Properties dialog box or in the Details Grouping dialog box.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services Service Pack 1.

The Page break at start check box and the Page break at end check box should appear in the following scenarios:

  • The check boxes should appear in the Grouping and Sorting Properties dialog box when you try to add or to edit a group for a row in a matrix control.
  • The check boxes should appear in the Details Grouping dialog box when you try to edit a group in a table control.
  • The check boxes should appear in the Details Grouping dialog box when you try to edit the Grouping property of a list control.

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Start Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003.
  2. Create a report project, and then add a new report to the report project by using the Report Wizard.
  3. In Layout view, add a matrix control to the Body section of the report.
  4. Right-click the left corner of the matrix control, and then click Add Row Group.


The Page break at start check box and the Page break at end check box may not appear in the Grouping and Sorting Properties dialog box.
