884857 The Mailbox Merge Program renames special folders in a mailbox to match the special folder names in a personal folder file when you import messages in Exchange Server 2003 S884857

After you install the hotfix, you must modify the Exmerge.ini file and add the following key:

RenameSpecialFolders = 0

The following behavior occurs, depending on the value that is set for the RenameSpecialFolders key in the Exmerge.ini file:

  • If the RenameSpecialFolders key is not added to the Exmerge.ini file, special folders are renamed to the source folder name during the Exmerge process.
  • If the RenameSpecialFolders key is set to a value of 0, the special folders are not renamed.
  • If the RenameSpecialFolders key is set to a value other than 0, the special folders are renamed to the source folder name.

  6. Right-click Exmerge.ini in the C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Bin folder, and then click Open.
  7. Scroll down to the bottom of the Exmerge.ini file in Notepad.
  8. After the last line, type RenameSpecialFolders = 0.
  9. On the File menu, click Save.
  10. On the File menu, click Exit.
