  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SYMPTOMS

The QoS RSVP service may start on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. The QoS RSVP service starts even if you are not using Quality of Service (QoS) in your network.

You may notice that the QoS RSVP service is running when you view system reports. For example, if you use the Microsoft Configuration Capture Utility, you may notice that the QoS RSVP service is running.

Also, an event that is similar to the following may be logged in the system log: Event ID: 10047
Source: RSVP
Type: Warning
Description: QoS RSVP has failed to find any interfaces with traffic control enabled. Install QoS traffic control services via network and dial-up connections.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Windows Management service starts the Rsvp.exe process and keeps the Rsvp.exe process running even if you are not using QoS. The Rsvp.exe process is the process that corresponds to the QoS RSVP service.
