INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to set up an iFilter for Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 by using Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

To use Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to set up the iFilter for OneNote 2003, follow these steps:

Note This procedure will not work on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Microsoft Windows or Windows Vista.

  1. Install OneNote 2003 on the computer that is running the Windows SharePoint Services Search service.
  2. Start SharePoint Central Administration.
  3. On the Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration page, click Operations, and then click Blocked File Types under Security Configuration.
  4. On the Blocked File Types page, make sure that the one extension is not present in the blocked file types list under Type each file name extension on a separate line.


If the one extension is present in the list, select the one extension, and then press DELETE.

  1. Click OK.

Windows SharePoint Services

To use Windows SharePoint Services to set up the iFilter for OneNote 2003, follow these steps.

Note This procedure will not work on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Microsoft Windows or Windows Vista.

  1. Install OneNote 2003 on the computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services. The iFilter for OneNote 2003 is installed when you install OneNote 2003 on the computer.


Note If Microsoft SQL Server is installed on a remote computer, install OneNote 2003 on the remote computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server.

  1. Start SharePoint Central Administration.
  2. On the Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration page, under Security Configuration, click Manage blocked file types.
  3. On the Manage Blocked File Types page, under Type each file extension on a separate line, make sure that the "one" extension (without quotation marks) is not present in the blocked file types list.


If the "one" extension (without the quotation marks) is present in the list, select the one extension, and then press DELETE.

  1. Click OK.
