INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to add the Insert hyperlink button to the Format toolbar of an announcement in a Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server Announcement page by editing the SharePoint site by using Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003.

MORE INFORMATION

To add the Insert hyperlink button to the Format toolbar for announcements, follow these steps:

  1. Open your SharePoint site in FrontPage 2003.
  2. Expand the Lists folder, and then locate the announcement list that you want to modify.
  3. Right-click the announcement list, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Fields tab, and then click Body in the Fields list.
  5. Click Modify.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Click to select the Show Insert hyperlink button check box.
  8. You receive the following warning message:

If you enable rich HTML in this field and then edit it by using a Datasheet view of the list, any hyperlinks in the cell you are editing will be removed.

  9. Click OK, click Finish, and then click OK.

When you add or when you edit an announcement, you can add a hyperlink to the announcement. To do so, select text that you want to be a hyperlink, and then click the Insert hyperlink button on the Format toolbar. You can then set the type of hyperlink that you are adding and the hyperlink address.

Note Not all hyperlink types are supported by the SharePoint announcement list and are removed when you save the announcement. The following hyperlink types are not supported:

  • gopher:
  • telnet:
  • wais:
