- Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
SYMPTOMS
When you pass lots of file references to the Csc.exe tool at the command prompt, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) events cannot occur. Also, compilation fails if you pass lots of files as parameters to the Csc.exe tool.
CAUSE
When you install or start WMI, the problem occurs because of how the Microsoft Visual C# .NET compiler works with some custom-generated code. As more file references are added at the command line, the Csc.exe tool cannot compile the files. Therefore, the WMI events cannot occur.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:
The Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.
