Update to remove the Dbmadsn.dll and Dbmsvinn.dll files
The Dbmadsn.dll file for AppleTalk and the Dbmsvinn.dll file for Banyan Virtual Integrated Network Service (VINES) are removed when you install Windows XP SP2.
Update to permit only trusted Web sites and the local computer to access the hard disk by using Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO)
In MDAC 2.81, only trusted Web sites and the local computer can use ADO to access to the local hard disk. (MDAC 2.81 is included in Windows XP SP2.)
A connection to an Oracle database is still available in the connection pool after you end the connection
If you connect to an Oracle database by using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle (MSDAORA), end the connection on the server side by using the Alter System Kill Session command line, and then quit the client program, the connection that you ended is still available in the connection pool. When the client program opens a new connection, the connection that you ended may be retrieved from the connection pool. Therefore, the new connection does not work correctly. This problem is fixed in Windows XP SP2.
Update to remove the limits for the text size and the rowset count in the Shape Provider
In MDAC 2.81, the text size limit and the rowset count limit in the Shape Provider are removed. (MDAC 2.81 is included in Windows XP SP2.)
You cannot view or edit all the data source names (DSNs) that are listed in the ODBC Data Source Administrator tool
The ODBC Data Source Administrator tool only displays a certain number of DSNs. If you created many DSNs, you may find that you cannot view or edit all the DSNs that you created by using the ODBC Data Source Administrator tool. This problem is fixed in Windows XP SP2.
"Insufficient base table information for updating or refreshing" error message when you call the UpdateBatch method of an ADO Recordset object
When you use the InfoPlus (Open Database Connectivity) ODBC driver to call the UpdateBatch method of a client-side ADO Recordset object, you may receive the following error message:
This problem is fixed in Windows XP SP2.
