Ping times are not reported to the millisecond in Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you use the ping command from a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer to test connectivity with another computer and to determine the Round Trip Time (RTT), the times are not accurate to the millisecond (msec).

CAUSE

In Windows 2000 Server, timers in Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) report time in 10-msec increments.
