This ability depends on the operating system of computer that has Internet Connection Sharing enabled:

  • Windows Millennium Edition (Me): You can play with other Windows Millennium Edition (Me)-based computers and non-Windows Millennium Edition (Me)-based computers (that have DirectX 8 installed), except in a ZoneMatch instance.
  • Windows 2000: Only one computer at a time can play through the server to the Internet. The computer must have a minimum of DirectX version 7 installed.
  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition: You cannot play multiplayer online games by using a Windows 98 Second Edition Internet Connection Sharing-based computer. This operating system does not support the DirectPlay Protocol Flag.
