The RoutingExceptions feature, available in Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0, is not available in ISA Server 2000

Article ID: 837349

Article Last Modified on 4/24/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

The RoutingExceptions feature is used to forward requests by protocol type to different upstream servers in Proxy Server 2.0. This feature is not available in Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

ISA 2000 routing rules are used to process incoming requests to specified destinations using the following methods.

Note You can find ISA 2000 routing rules on the Request Action page of the New Routing Rule Wizard.

  • Retrieve them directly from specified destination.

Retrieves the object directly from the specified destination.

  • Route to a specified upstream server.

Allows the upstream proxy server to be a Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server computer or a Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 server. You can also specify a backup route if the primary route is unavailable. The upstream server may require that the downstream proxy pass authentication. For those cases, credentials must be entered in the Primary Routing page in the New Routing Rule wizard. These credentials are used by the upstream server to authenticate the downstream server.

  • Redirected to another hosted site.

Sends incoming requests to a specific site. You must enter the Hosted site name, the port number, or the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port number.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
